The home of the I Am A Horse handling courses, the therapy sessions for our Autistic friends and of course the Bay Horse Ranch animals!
Here you will find we are very different from a riding school...well we're not one for a start!... this is not what things are about here at the 'Ranch'! Here you can come and feel free; you're children can be free and there is no pressure as there are no rules!! (well except the one about love and respect for the animals and each other)
We have five horses and two sheep. The horses are a mixed bunch and most are here because they are regarded as 'less than perfect'. This very element is important to lots of visitors as they prove just because you're not seen as perfect or normal it doesn't mean you have nothing to offer the world! For instance, our gelding Roan can't be ridden and was due to be put to sleep; he may be regarded as 'useless' by many, but here he offers wonderful friendship to everyone and his role is very important.
We are not interested in what a horse looks like here!
The sheep, Tansy & Felix, were hand-reared by us and are super friendly and great fun; they can interact with the children too.
The land is not set out in a restricive way so if you just want to wander off and chat to a horse or lamb you can, they are a chilled out, well mannered herd who do not have issues with behaviour and welcome visitors.
There is a garden area and children can dig and plant if
they fancy doing that. They can then watch what grows
each time they visit!
Parents come to spend sensory time for themselves too; just a few minutes with one of the horses can really make a difference to their day!
