The Herd
Lily~15.2hh TB 14yrs Lily started life in the racing world; failing the grade and going straight into an eventing home. Sadly she didn't have the right personality for this kind of life and although loved very much by her owner she was rehomed to me to live a more 'natural' life. She went through many months of rehabilitation and learned how to be a horse and relax more. She came with many issues; all explained honestly by her previous owner and the horse world being the small place it is I met a few people who knew Lily and could fill me in about her past behaviours! The saddest thing I was told by one of her ex-riders was that she had been branded 'insane' by him and other professionals....today Lily is a wonderful mare with the most loving nature, very sensitive and responsive. It was a gift to her from her previous owner that she recognised that this girl needed a different life. She is very 'hot' still and isn't a horse you just take off for a gentle canter; once a racehorse...etc...! but she is brilliant to hack and great fun. She is a real 'chatter' and I know the bond we have is very special.
Roan~15hh AngloArab 13yrs Roan came to me after having been up for sale and failing the vetting quite spectacularly! He had been bought by a lottery winner who unfortunately didn't really know about horses and what followed was one disaster after another; resulting in him becoming agoraphobic and unsound. He was due to be put to sleep. He suffered from catatonic episodes; using the 'shutting down' as a way of avoiding the world. Luckily he had not been badly treated in that he loves people and has no hang-ups in that way. When it comes to the big wide world however, poor Roan would rather just stay home and eat! He will be permanently unsound and for that reason he isn't ridden and instead lends himself brilliantly to handling sessions; loving any fuss and attention
Darcey~14.3hh Section D 12yrs Well for some deluded reason I named this horse after my favourite ballet dancer, which is hilarious as she is far from dainty or graceful; more thunderous and thug-like! She pounds about every where in that thumping Welsh trot and is keen on demolition...just because she can! She is a funny girl; seemingly very independent and dismissive of those she doesn't know but the truth is she is more needy than she likes to admit! She has the most fantastic manners and would never kick or be rude to any other horse so brilliant to take anywhere. She has had foals earlier in her life and her riding career has been a slow burner so is still learning and isn't a novice horse as is so often the case with Sec.D's! She has had a lot of owners so I look at her every day and hope she realises she's here to stay and doesn't have to worry anymore....
Becky~12.2hh BRP 18yrs My little Becky-Button! Got her as a yearling for my daughters' first birthday present. The best £150 I ever spent! She has only ever known the good of life and had a very easy one at that! Becky is a wonderful 'therapy' horse (see her page) and available for children under the autisitc spectrum.Total one in a million....not much more I need to say really!
